share your magical moment
Each week here at Disney News and Reviews we want to showcase a picture from a member of our community. I am sure that everyone has a "magical moment" photo that signifies what Disney means to their family. This picture instantly takes me back to Epcot, when my children, wife and I were a little younger (sigh, where do the years go?).
One hot and humid day our family went trekking around the World Showcase claiming stamps from each country at every Kidcot station to complete our children's passports and retrieve a small souvenir poster at the end. Simple, right? The journey had barely begun when we encountered a problem that almost instantly derailed the entire undertaking. Being the wonderful parents we were, we wanted to get around the stations as fast as possible to claim the prize. Our girls, however, had other plans. They wanted to (gasp) actually do the craft, including drawing, coloring, decorating and whatever else their fiendish little minds could think of. I looked at my watch. At the pace we were going I noted that it was going to take approximately 23 years to complete our goal. It was going to be a very long day. We were making the trek from the Mexico Pavilion to Canada, battle weary and more than a little ill tempered when, as Jiminy Cricket would say, "Fate stepped in and saw us through."articles of out of nowhere we saw a double decker bus carrying all the Epcot characters pull into the large open courtyard in front of us. Soon, we were able to get autographs of every character that we had on our "must get" list at once. We even got to take our time with the "boss" before any real crowd arrived. it was a truly magical moment.
In the end, I survived my ordeal and my children claimed the prize that they had worked so hard for. Today, I'm not sure if Madyson and Ashley still have their souvenirs from that day in Epcot but I will always have a story to tell and a picture to remember it by.
